    • "another brick"

What shall we use to fill the empty spaces
      Where waves of hunger roar
Shall we set out across this sea of faces
In search of more and more applause
Shall we buy a new guitar
Shall we drive a more powerful car
Shall we work straight-through the night
      Shall we get into fights
      Leave the lights on
      Drop bombs
      Do tours of the East
      Contract diseases
      Bury bones
      Break up homes
      Send flowers by phone
      Take to drink
      Go to shrinks
      Give up meat
      Rarely sleep
      Keep people as pets
      Train dogs
      Race rats
      Fill the attic with cash
      Bury treasure
      Store up leisure
      But never relax at all
With our backs to the wall

[Aufgefallen, wie die Vorschläge immer verrückter werden?]

      ------------------------

      All that you touch
      And all that you see
      All that you taste
      All you feel
      And all that you love
      And all that you hate
      All you distrust
      All you save
      And all that you give
      And all that you deal
      And all that you buy
      Beg, borrow or steal
      And all you create
      And all you destroy
      And all that you do
      And all that you say
      And all that you eat
      And everyone you meet
      And all that you slight
      And everyone you fight
      And all that is now
      And all that is gone
      And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

      ------------------------

Hey you, out there in the cold
      Getting lonely, getting old
      Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
      Can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight
Hey you out there on your own
      Sitting naked by the phone
      Would you touch me?
Hey you with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
      Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home
      But it was only fantasy
      The wall was too high
      As you can see
      No matter how he tried
      He could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain
Hey you, out there on the road
      Always doing what you're told
      Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall
      Breaking bottles in the hall
      Can you help me?
Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall

      ------------------------

      ...
Mother, did it need to be so high?

      ------------------------

      ...
      And as the windshield melts
      My tears evaporate
      Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.
      Ashes and diamonds
      Foe and friend
We were all equal in the end.

    • And all those brave souls both brave enough and crazy enough
To spill their blood for truth alone
That one or two ideas survive, always survive
Writ in blood on paving stones
      **

To laugh is to know how to live
To see is to know everything
To read is to hold the key that you need
The key you need to set you free

      ***

It's always the terror you can rely on
To eat its way into your heart
Like rust and there to spy on
The blood, the blade, the speeches made
That mingle in your very entrails

      ****

If this life's a journey we take
If the secret the sharing cake
Holds the key, holds the key to joy
      And unlocks these doors inside
      Where Republic must surely hide
If wishes really could come true
If we see through the illusions
      And abide by the constitution
There'll be human rights for everyone
      Unique and universal
      For everyone
      Under the sun!
