Atom Heart Mother

      PINK FLOYD
      Fillmore East, New York
Pink Floyd – Fillmore East, New York

this is brillant! thanks to MQR and his team.
As a matter of fact I expected something more daring, whereas here it is a subtle (but the differences sound obvious) new mix / a new Milky Way so to speak to rediscover Atom Heart Mother.
If Meddle is to me an acoustic album, Atom Heart Mother was always a piano album to me; and you brought back Rick Wright, his Baby Steinway piano and keyboards to its glory.

The vocal harmonies, especially the chorus section on "Summer '68" (with his arrangement reminiscent of what S.Gainsbourg will do later with Initials B.B.) are great; more powerful; you can hear better David and Rick's singing the harmonies - a bit like some weird Beach Boys.
And the Charlotte piano part is magnificent.

You could have isolated Rick's humming the intro - it's even reminiscent of Yves Duteil "prendre un enfant par la main" - which is somehow distracting.

Fat Old Sun : I have never been disturbed by the mix where the amazing guitar solo starts in the middle of David still singing - I think this mix was intended.
Isolation (quadraphonic) reveals that David is singing through the whole song, humming probably while playing the guitar solo; here the guitar solo mix sounds more "modern" like when David started to play Fat Old Sun in his solo years.

If : I kind of miss the bass-line. The mix I did (before AI) was putting Roger's voice in front of the mix + a loud and warm bass (I can't post my mixes here (which were done years before A.I; they wouldn't be allowed)

Atom Heart Mother : the brass and orchestra is there, less intrusive; the echo on Nick Mason drums is still there; Nick's drumming although "controlled" to fit with the orchestra was what I like best with the studio version.
You bring back Rick's piano Baby Steinway there; it's subtle but it had to the tragic and epic parts of the "song". (That's always what you have done very well with Alan Psychedelic's Breakfast : without AI "assistance" it was possible to isolate one channel of the 4 tracks quadraphonic mix to get only Rick's piano for the epic ending of Alan's PB.)
During the Funky Dung part we can enjoy Rick's keyboard.
I also noticed that you push a little the dynamic/loudness during the main theme part.

Well, besides the fact that I was expecting some unusual mix I'm very pleased with sound to me like the definitive unofficial remix of this album.
Mind you, for John Lennon solo albums or many albums a lot of engineer went way beyond your mix and ruined the artist's intentions; it's not the case there.

Perhaps an extra CD with some "unexpected" mix could have been great ? Rick's unlighted humming vocals at the beginning of "Summer '68", etc...

Now, please do one day at least the B-Side of Meddle : you have the 5.1 mix + the original quad promo mix of Echoes.
The 2nd version to the Power of Dark Side was a bit too much like a Baz Luhrman's movie (for instance, On The Run-The Travel Sequence was a bit too long (before "reaching" Time) even if it was great; thus it kind of lost its power)

There are probably some typos; sorry for this long post - I thought it was more "suitable" than just a "thank you"; it's 29°c in my apartment near Paris here.
