    • Huch, was ist denn daraus geworden?

New 5.1 mixes of Meddle and Obscured By Clouds albums

    • Vom SH-Forum:

Here's some other stuff we know:

This set is not $700. That was the original price listed on Pink Floyd's website, and it's been listed at close to that on Amazon US. Pink Floyd's webstore now lists it for $550, and it can be had as lower on other Amazon sites (the lowest seems to be Amazon Italy at the moment).

There is no mono Saucerful of Secrets
in this set. No one knows why for sure.

None of the original studio albums appear in their original form/mix on this set.

There is no 5.1 version of Meddle
in this set. That info was erroneously posted before the announcement went live. There is a quad mix of "Echoes." This is apparently the only track from the album with a vintage quad mix.

There is no 5.1 version of Obscured by Clouds
in this set. Same idea as above (erroneously posted). Obscured by Clouds has been remixed in stereo for this set. No one is sure why, though the possibility has been raised it was merely to "pad out" the 1972 volume of the box (seems plausible to me).

There is speculation these 5.1 mixes will appear individually at some later date, but this is unconfirmed. Just speculation.

The video in this set is not sourced from YouTube. As member @rontoon has mentioned multiple times, he has been involved in tracking down original sources for much of the video material, which has been restored for this set.

The individual volumes available in 2017 will likely contain no additional material. There has been hopeful speculation, but other than the aforementioned possibility of separate
releases of the Meddle and Obscured by Clouds 5.1 mixes (and maybe mono Saucerful of Secrets)--which is itself speculation--ANYTHING additional to what's listed in the track listing above is pure speculation.

You can get "Vegetable Man" and "Scream Thy Last Scream" without buying the full box. You just have to wait until the first individual volume (Cambridge St/ation
) comes out in early 2017.

The early singles on disc one are mono-only; so no stereo versions of "Arnold Layne," "See Emily Play," "Apples and Oranges," "Candy and a Currant Bun," or "Paintbox." No one is sure why tracks where the multi-tracks exist are only being released in mono.

The only way to get the complete Syd Barrett-era BBC sessions is to buy the full box. However, one track from the box-exclusive bonus disc ("Flaming," 25 September 1967) is included on the 2-disc sampler.

      No word on an Animals
immersion set, a follow-up 1973-19?? set, or any other releases except for the aforementioned 2-disc sampler (out the same day as the big set) and individual volumes to be released next year.

      Did I miss anything?

Let’s see it in chronological order. A good surprise but not many gems inside for the hardcore fans.
A casual fan can easily to get his box and avoid to buy any boot in the future. But for the majority of us, 131 tracks and only 27 real unreleased pieces For the audio side! But it's great news for the fans if we're regarding behind: remember "shine on" boxset ??

The Amsterdam and Paradiso shows were taped by VPRO and widely spreaded for years. No news under the sun. No traces of the three gigs recorded for the live Side of “Ummagumma” as the complete Mothers’gig or the partial recording of the Main Hall gig (26 April) ? Really ?

21.11.1970 ‘Festival de Montreux’, Montreux, Suisse
      085. Atom Heart Mother 17.58
All serious fan have a bootleg of this gig (specially since some better sources were unearthed)
I have a contact inside the Europe 1 Radio archives. There are four tapes of the 23 january 1970 shows in pristine conditions (first two tapes for the live broadcast with the DJ speeches and the uncut tapes). The french radio had a request of the Floyd management but there are no news since, why ? Think it was the same thing for the other major french radio station, RTL, about the 1971 gig …
