      Klasse statt Masse, Herr Kurator

      @deha
      Ja, das stimmt wohl.
    • @Patrick
Stichwort "Heimsuchung" :)
mit floydigen Grüssen may you all shine on :)

    • Jon Carin lässt mal wieder eine Bombe platzen...

[...]Anyway, why do we care about my humble Reso-Lectric?
Because it’s the one I used to write & play on Pink Floyd’s song Marooned, which unbelievably won a Grammy ( back in the days when managers were able to pull rabbits out of hats ).
But wait, it’s more complicated than that.
      Tech heads, here you go…

What I did was to play harmonics on the guitar and sample every note I could, through a Korg A3 multi-fx unit that is doing the panning swirling stuff.
Then I played it through further FX algorithms on the Kurzweil K2000 keyboard.

So, the first 30 seconds of the song is just me alone playing an ambient piece I wrote for a record I was making at the time that happened to be in the same key but, of course, didn’t come out, instead ending up on a P.F. record.
The sound then continues throughout the whole of Marooned.
You can hear it bending and swooping all the way through.

I also played the grand piano ( the Fazioli at Metropolis Studios ), B3 and other synths on this song, too.
Q: I love Jon your insights in the recording process. I would of never thought those sounds were harmonics on a guitar sampled/digitised. Amazing work. I can see in an earlier reply you said Rick doesn’t feature on the track, yet is credited as songwriter. Is this a similar experience/process to what you explained in the Yet Another Movie, except receiving a credit when not involved.
      Sort of, slightly different circumstances.
Q: It sucks to not be fully credited.
it is an enormously awful thing to do to a person.
We put our heart, soul & time into our music & performances.
Not crediting honestly is the equivalent to theft.
And it is extremely damaging to a person’s spirit.
Q: so... what did rick actually play on this song?
      Rick isn’t on this track.

geht ja auf Facebook schön weiter ..

      "
      yes.
The Division Bell credits are really bizarre." "Die Cedits sind richtig Bizarr

A great day for Freedom yes.
      And High Hopes.
I play all of the grand piano on division bell.

Das Gleiche gilt für "Wearing The Inside Out".

Jon Carin Gary Wallis persinally told me he played drums on Coming back to life (studio version) so your invaluable piece of information on Marooned is no surprise

      yes.
The Division Bell credits are really bizarre.

Jon Carin something tells me you played piano on A Great Day For Freedom..

      yes.
      And High Hopes.
I play all of the grand piano on division bell.

I presume Rick at least plays piano on Cluster One & Wearing The Inside Out?
Jon, you must write a book! The Division Bell sessions are the worst documented of any Floyd album.

Cluster One was created in a sequencer.
      It wasn’t a real piano.
Same with Wearing The Inside Out.
      I am writing a book.
I have sometimes contacted these authors to correct their mistakes, but they are all uninterested.
      Pretty weird.

I think we all love these stories and I'm sure everyone would love to hear about others too (I sure would too)

these are tiny snippets of things I’m working through for my book, which will be much more detailed.

      Zu Durga..

Jon Carin you do know I had to come in and re-record all the bottom BVs on The Division Bell, after Bob Ezrin first had all English singers do it, but David insisted I redo them all, right?

Durga McBroom I did know that, yes.
      You always give good bottom.
